Nvidia = win?

Mayber you wanted an opinion on the G80? Well, now that we finally have some reliable benchmarks for Nvidia's G80, the numbers confirm what the specs suggested: it's pretty beast. I'm interested in seeing the G80's performance on a dual core vs. a quad core system, as early internet buzz has it that the G80 performs significantly better on quad core processors - certainly something to consider when buying a new computer.

For now, it looks like Nvidia has claimed the crown in the graphics card market, putting not only everything from ATI but all other Nvidia cards as well to shame. It looks as if it will remain that way for a while, with the only competitor being ATI's R600 model, which isn't due until February 2007 at the earliest, and probably then only in limited quantities. The question is, will the R600 be enough for ATI to take the lead? It may very well be more powerful than the G80, but I'm betting Nvidia has a refresh model of the G80 out by then.

Computer hardware just gets me so excited.

eh, im betting on the R600 personally, I think it'll own pretty hard.

But I mean, hell, if NVIDIA has a new, better model out, I'll go for that.
